The 2016 Crossfit Games were a spectacular demonstration of fitness – they do after all call the winners the fittest man and woman on Earth. They aren’t kidding. The athletes were put through their paces and then some with some of the most challenging workouts imaginable – several of them per day of competition. Athletes from all over the world, that first logged workout results along side hundreds of thousands of every day Crossfit athletes in The Open. The top qualifiers moved on to regionals. Then they had come out on top at regional competitions around the world to move on. And finally – on to California for the 2016 Crossfit Games to compete against the very best in the world.
If you haven’t seen it yet, watch the documentary all about the 2015 Crossfit Games called “Fittest On Earth” which is available currently on Netflix. It’s as tense as a football game between your favourite team and their worst rival. And it certainly puts some of the match-ups from 2016 in perspective.
Matt Fraser, a naturally entertaining guy who demonstrated some star power in “Fittest On Earth,” absolutely crushed it in 2016, demonstrating just how hard he worked in the past year. It’s impossible not to be inspired by his stunning performances – no matter what level athlete you are. Forget the multi-million dollar single-sport athletes. Crossfit is where the action is – the 2015 documentary, and the 2016 games online that I watched were riveting. The Crossfit Games is the ultimate show for anyone interested it fitness and sport. And in a year when we had summer Olympics, for my part, the Crossfit Games was a far more exciting watch.
